the shape of this cup has an affinity to the zoroastrian fire bowl
that is used to keep the eternal flame, worshipped in parsi temples.
appropriately the piece underwent a threefold baptizing of the flames,
a bisque, glaze and overglaze firing, all at different temperatures.
when I called, the customer prepared a mouthwatering snack to show
how she would match and use the cup

a cup made from austrian stoneware clay,
with a glaze made from reed ash, iron ore and various other metallic oxides.
on top of the glaze, a copper overglaze has been applied
